FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why the new rules? At the last general body meeting and election, everybody agreed that membership and elections guidelines were too confusing and may have attributed to a decline in membership. This year, we want to make things as simple as possible so that everyone knows their rights and responsibilities, and we can get back to focusing on the spiritual and social growth of our dynamic and diverse community.

What are the membership fees? See the pricing table below. We offer Individual, Student, and Household tiers, payable monthly or annually. Annual membership offers the best value. We would also appreciate any additional donation you could provide to the ICP.

$60 yearly/$5 monthly for Individuals

$40 yearly/$3 monthly for Students

$100 yearly/$8.50 monthly for Households

How long am I a member for and when do I have to renew? Membership at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh is now based on a rolling 12‑month cycle. Your membership remains active for one full year from the date you sign up and must be renewed annually to maintain continuous benefits.

How do I submit my form? Becoming a member is simple. Follow any the links below and fill out an application.

I gave money to the ICP but didn't fill out a membership form. Am I a member? No. Payment of fees without submitting a completed Membership form will not qualify you for membership. You must submit both the form and the payment together — we cannot accept one without the other.

What are the benefits of membership? As a member, you become an active, engaged part of the ICP community with the following benefits:

  • The right to vote at general body meetings and elections

  • The ability to nominate other members and be nominated yourself for the Board of Directors

  • Discounts on select ICP programs and events

Your voice and participation help shape the future of the ICP.

Is there an age limit? Only those aged 18 and over are eligible to become members at the ICP.

I recently signed up for membership but was not allowed to vote. Why? To be an eligible voting member, you must submit your payment and form by the membership deadline — 6 months prior to the upcoming election. In this case, June 30th, 2026, for the November 2026 election.

I want to run for the Board. What must I do to be nominated? Under our membership rules, you must have been a member for 2 consecutive years prior to the election date. You must also be nominated by two other ICP members to run. The next Board of Directors elections will be held in November 2026.
