ICP Statement Regarding Recent Terror Attacks

The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh mourns for the families and communities of the victims of recent terror attacks in Paris, Beirut and everywhere afflicted by terrorism. We mourn the loss of innocent children, women and men caught in the midst of war throughout the world.

The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh condemns the taking of innocent lives as it is in stark contrast to the teachings in our Holy Quran and those of our beloved Prophet Mohammed and the prophets that preceded him, peace be upon them all. Any act of violence against some innocent people is an act of violence against all innocent people as stated in the Quran verse 5:32: if anyone kills an innocent person, it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saves a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all people.
We seek calm and reflective responses to the events unfolding and continue to welcome visitors to the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh. We seek to inform those unfamiliar with our teachings to realize first-hand that our religion teaches us acceptance, understanding, reflection and moderation.

In Solidarity,
The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh Administration and Board
