Lawyer Referral Service offers 30 minute consultation with an attorney. All cases will be screened for merit and the type of legal service required. The public can also search for lawyers using pittsburghlawyerfinder.org. Search by legal specialties such as family law, immigration and visas, and workers' compensation, then browse by geographic locations and years of experience. The website includes details about attorneys' education, career, case history and contact information.


Legal consultation for low-income individuals on non-criminal issues including family law, landlord-tenant issues, Social Security, record expungement and employment concerns. No criminal matters. Walk-in early since space is limited and they can only see ten clients per session:

Provides free “civil” legal services to low income individuals and families without the means to hire a private attorney. Provides representation to survivors of domestic violence in Protection from Abuse proceedings. May provide direct representation, advice, assistance in self-representation, brief service/limited legal assistance or referral to a private attorney (including free and reduced-fee), depending on case. Provides community education on legal topics. Free interpretation services are provided to those with limited English abilities and the hearing-impaired. 


For individuals in need of advice relating to legal immigration matters and unable to hire private attorneys, JFCS can provide legal assistance through attorneys and accredited representatives for free or a nominal fee.
