Islam 101 is a free weekly class designed for people of all faiths and backgrounds who want to learn about Islam in a format that is informative, interactive, and engaging. The class will provide basic information on the tenets of Islam as well as a deeper meaning of what Muslims believe. The course will cover a wide range of topics including the Pillars of Islam, the Qur'an (holy book), the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Islamic Articles of Faith, and the Sunnah and ahadith (traditions and sayings of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him).
The course will be taught by Diyar Karim, a University of Pittsburgh graduate with a degree in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. He also serves as a mentor for new Muslims and has led several youth study circles at the ICP.
When: Saturdays at 5:30pm, beginning February 21st, 2015
