The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh (ICP) is actively seeking a resident Religious Director to fulfill the spiritual and social needs of our dynamic and diverse community.

For decades, the ICP has been the largest and most influential Islamic institution in Western Pennsylvania, providing quality religious, educational, and social services in a diverse and culturally respectful environment. Our mission is to shape the American-Muslim identity by educating, empowering, and uniting our dynamic and diverse community.

The ICP has long been an integral part of the community, serving as an excellent location to visit, study, and get involved through its various programs, events, and services.  The City of Pittsburgh itself has received numerous accolades the past several years as being one of the most affordable, livable, and dynamic cities in the United States.  The masjid is located just blocks from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. As a result, the Muslim community in the region has evolved from a group of students to families seeking professional opportunities, affordability, safety, prestigious schools, and a strong sense of community.

We are seeking a Religious Director who is deeply rooted in a strong foundation of Islamic knowledge and cultural understanding in order to intelligently lead and navigate through the complex moral issues we face today.

The Religious Director will work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and our exceptionally active and talented volunteer base. In addition, the ICP sets itself apart by having a team of professional, full-time staff who are actively engaged in regularly updating the website and a range of social media platforms to skillfully market and propagate our values to the wider Muslim and non-Muslim audience.

The duties of the Religious Director include but are not limited to: leading Jummah prayer and weekly halaqas, conducting activities on Tafsirul Quran, Hadith, Sirah, Fiqh, leading youth activities, overseeing chaplaincy to the incarcerated and the infirmed, and leading outreach efforts to the non-Muslim community, leading Janazah prayers and marriages. Must have high proficiency in both English and Arabic. The ICP offers a competitive salary depending of years of experience, academic qualifications and publications. Initial interviews will take place via video conference, and visits to Pittsburgh will follow.
