Rights between Imam and Community
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said this religion is one of naseehah, giving sincere counsel. He said this includes counsel to Allah, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders (imams) of the Muslims, and their common folk (`aammah).
The rights of the imams include respecting their position and qualified authority to speak about the religion of Islam even if we disagree with them or favor the understanding of other imams.
The rights that you have over the imams are to be given the true message of Islam when you ask for it and in some cases even when you do not ask for it.
Let’s meet and talk. What do you feel is lacking in the Pittsburgh Muslim community? What do you miss from long ago or from another community that you think would work here? Or what is it we have that just needs to stop? I want to meet the community and get to know you on a personal level. We not only pray in the same mosque(s) but share the same streets and neighborhoods and our children interact with each other. With your help we can collect great ideas and lead the community into collective implementation for the better of this Ummah.
This move of mine in 2019 has been the hardest move I have ever done, both physically and financially. And I have moved once, sometimes twice a year every year since 2013. I would like to thank the community for their patience while we acclimate ourselves to the area, our new lives, new home, and order our affairs. This is all in the path of becoming truly regular Pittsburghers inshaAllah.
