Volunteer of the Month Program

Award Winners for April are: Br. Rami, Sr. Maha, and Sr. Heba.  MashAllah, they have been consistently volunteering in the ICP. The ICP would like to thank all of the other brothers and sisters who have been volunteering for several months.  InshaAllah each month we will recognize outstanding volunteers.  Because only a limited number can be awarded each month, we will recognize other volunteers in the upcoming months InshaAllah.

Islamic Education, Fun, and Sports

Monday- Thursday 9:00 am- 3:30 pm

 Ages: preschool - 15 years

This year's Summer Program is filled with exciting learning and fun!In addition to the Educational classes (Quran, Arabic, and Islamic     Studies), we also provide a lot of fun and   educational activities and field trips for kids through the summer program. This year's activities will include:


Wood Shop
First Aid and Disaster training by Red Cross
Fire Safety
Program from Allegheny Sheriff Department

Arts & Crafts- Tye Dye t-shirt
Karate Class
Cooking and Baking Class

Free Breakfast & Lunch will be served!

Fees (including transportation to field trips only):

$130.00 1st child

$120.00 2nd child

$110.00 for each additional Child

$10 less for ICP member

Islamic Studies game - Would you like to make Islamic Studies fun? Would you like your kids, teens, and even adults learn about their religion with fun and easy way? ICP weekend school would like to announce that we got some games that help students learn about their religion in an easy way. Thursday July 8, 2010 Activities

Ar-Rahman Allama Al-Qur'an -   We are inviting all of you and your families to join us on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM for a program that focuses on Qur'an memorization, tajweed and proper pronunciation.  The program is open to men, women, and children of all ages and all levels, and participants will be awarded certificates as they advance. Friday July 9, 2010 Activities

Inshallah, the halaqa will be held on Fridays, beginning at 6:30 PM and continuing until 'Isha prayer.
The goal of this halaqa is to educate youth about the beauty of our religion, to provide an environment where the youth will feel free to express issues related to their identity as Muslims in the USA and to address these issues, and to establish a strong sisterhood relationship.

Friday Market (sooq) - If you would like to sell your goods, ICP is providing this service for our Muslim sisters & brothers for free.  The items should be Non-food as ICP is having a food sale after Jumaa prayer and all its proceeds go to ICP. Developing

This new series for youth (both boys and girls) will focus on how to develop their lives in a few different aspects.  It will be led by Sheikh Atef Mahgoub.  The lectures will be fun and interesting.  Youth will be invited to actively participate.  We will also develop our plans for the summer as a group.  We will meet every Saturday at 4:00 PM.  Please come and tell your friends!

Weekend School 2009-2010 -  Regular Schedule: Every Sunday  10:45 am -2:00 pm

ACTIVITIES:

  • Intensive Quran memorization courses  taught by Imam AbduSemi'h Tadese
  • Islamic studies and Ebadat
  • Arabic classes.
  • Arabic, and Quran classes for adults
  • Field Trips through the Fun for Kids Program.
  • Computer Classes
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Lunch  

Goals:

  • Memorizing, understanding, and reading Quran.
  • Gather our Muslim children and teens in an Islamic environment and helping them to learn about their religion, prophet (PBUH), Sahabas (prophet's companions).
  • Recognizing Arabic letters, words, sentences and Quran terms that help them reading the Holy Quran.

Fees:

  • $100/child each semester ( $80 if the parent is ICP member)
  • $80/adult each semester 
  • ICP members will get up to 20% discounts
  • Teachers' kids get up to 50% discounts
  • Full time volunteers will get free tuition for their kids

Tuesday Halaqa - The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh is holding a halaqa every Tuesday evening after 'Isha prayer.  We are inviting all of you and your families to this lecture series about the seerah of  our Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa salam) . The ICP Food Bank - NEXT Pick-up Date 7/21/10  1:00pm- 3:00pm Special Note: Volunteers Needed. We are picking up and unloading over 5,000 lbs of food on the 16th and the 21st. Please for the sake of Allah come volunteer on the 16th at 2:00 pm and on the 21st from 9:00am - 4:00pm or as much time as you can. We Need Your Help! Volunteers are needed in these areas:

Unloading - Transporting food to the lower level  - Set up and organization  - Baggers  - Delivery  - Clean-up

Now serving over 80 families!

People from all over the Pittsburgh area have been coming in great numbers to take advantage of this wonderful new program. We serve not only Muslims, but non Muslims in need with the help of the Pittsburgh Greater Food Bank. The food program pick-up is each month on the 3rd Wednesday from 1:00-3:00pm

How can you help!

We ask that every Imam in the Pittsburgh area please announce to your community about the food bank. We ask that every sister and brother look to your friends, your neighbors, your family and if you believe they qualify please refer them to the program! It is a very simply thing we as Muslims can do to make sure that no one in our community goes hungry. We ask the community to donate to ensure that this program continues to run for a long time to come InshaAllah.

Ways that you can donate:

Donations welcome- Non perishable items such as: canned vegetables, fruits, and household items; shampoo, soap, dishwashing liquid, baby supplies.

Donate financially- You can make cash, check, or online donations and place in the memo for the “ICP Food Program”

Donate your time- If you would like to assist in the program you can come on the third Wednesday of each month to assist from 9:00am-4:00 pm.

  • Unload the groceries.
  • Deliver groceries to those in need who cannot make it here to pick them up.
  • Carry groceries to sisters' cars
  • Help clean up.

Parking Variance Please make sure that you pick up your parking variance in the main entrance of ICP and also on the home page of our website.

If you do not post the monthly parking variance on the dashboard of your vehicle, or if you illegally park, you may be ticketed by the police.  The ICP is not responsible for the ticketing by the officers. This is a police matter and must be handled by contacting them directly.
